Azerbaijan boosts assistance to parentless youth entering workforce

In a significant move to support children who have lost their parents or are deprived of parental care, the Azerbaijan Parliament (Milli Majlis) has approved an increase in the one-time allowance provided to them upon their first employment.

According to Report, the relevant amendment to the law "On Social Protection of Children Who Have Lost Parents and Are Deprived of Parental Care" was discussed and adopted in the first reading at today's session of the Milli Majlis.

The amendments aim to apply a more effective principle of social security. It is proposed to include monetary compensation for clothing, footwear, soft inventory, and equipment in the amount of the one-time allowance.

As a result, the one-time allowance upon first employment will be increased to 6,000 manats (approximately $3,500).
