Russian MES to start demining operations in Aghdam tomorrow

Starting tomorrow, employees of the Russian Ministry of Civil Defense, Emergencies, and Disaster Relief will begin operations to clear 100 hectares of land in the Aghdam region of mines and unexploded ordnance.

According to him, the Russian side has already brought special equipment to Azerbaijan: "These employees will be stationed in the Karabakh Regional Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan in Guzanli settlement of Aghdam region."

Major General Anatoly Savin, head of Russia's Lider Center for Special Risk Rescue Operations, said that a select group of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations to clear mines and unexploded ordnance arrived in the territories handed over to Azerbaijan under a trilateral agreement.

According to him, the mission's task is to clean up the territories from unexploded shells: "The group consists of 20 personnel. It's pyrotechnics, EOD, dog handlers, instructors for the training of personnel. The group is armed with all the necessary technical equipment for demining territories."

He hopes that the Azerbaijani side will provide them with a map of all mined and unexploded ordnance. If there is no map, the location of mines and unexploded ordnance will be determined through consultations. I believe that we can resolve all issues. "

Savin noted that according to the order, the personnel arrived in Azerbaijan for 80 days: "If necessary and any decision is made in this regard, we can extend the period."
