MoD: Enemy's goal was to mine supply route

"The Armenian side again disseminated false information to cover up the provocations committed by reconnaissance-sabotage groups in the Kalbajar region of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on May 27, at around 03.00. Armenian soldiers were disarmed in the Upper Ayrim village of Kalbajar. Moreover, the enemy concentrated forces on the front line, including tank units," said Defense Ministry spokesman Anar Eyvazov, Report informs.

"Armenians describe the sabotage group, which attempted to mine our territory and to commit other acts of sabotage, as engineers and sappers. If so, then what kind of engineering work can Armenian military engineers do in the territory of Azerbaijan?"

"Anyone who has a bit of knowledge of the military understands that engineering is not carried out in small groups. The groups in such a composition are part of intelligence and sabotage groups. Obviously, they crossed into our territory to commit provocations. Their goal was to mine the supply route in the rear of our forces serving on the border. Thus, the troops using the supply line should be hit by mines, and there should be casualties among the personnel," Eyvazov said.
