The Attack Base of the Military Air Forces (MAF) under Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense plays a crucial role in safeguarding the country's airspace. As one of the special branches of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces, the Military Air Forces have been instrumental in ending nearly 30 years of occupation.
It's no coincidence that the military personnel serving in the MAF are referred to as the "unsung heroes" of the Second Karabakh War. Among these brave individuals who have etched their names in Azerbaijan's history of victory with their courage and valor, some have ascended to the pinnacle of martyrdom. Five members of these sky masters and defenders have been awarded the title of Hero of the Patriotic War.
During a media tour organized by the Ministry of Defense to one of the MAF bases, journalists had the opportunity to observe the organization of service and overall preparedness in this branch of the military up close.
According to the military personnel serving at the base, being part of the MAF is a challenging and responsible, yet highly honorable duty. They take pride in serving the Azerbaijan Army, regardless of day or night, summer or winter, heat or cold. It's worth noting that during the Second Karabakh War, both the pilot and technical staff of the MAF worked tirelessly in a 24/7 regime, showing great dedication to keep the aircraft in good condition and combat-ready.
As part of the visit to the base, the flight preparation process of the pilots was observed, and their demonstrated flight skills were watched with great interest.
The professionalism exhibited by the pilots once again provides absolute assurance that the country's airspace is in reliable hands.
