Media platform for objective coverage of events in Azerbaijan and Ukraine established - VIDEO

The interaction between Azerbaijani and Ukrainian media as part of a media platform will help increase the level of cooperation, according to an advisor of the head of the Ukrainian president's office, Oleksiy Arestovich.

Report informs that Arestovich was speaking at the international roundtable discussions 'International media platform Ukraine-Azerbaijan.'

"It will grow into a long-term, friendly and, in a good way, endless cooperation and will never cease. We have a good chance to work together to help people get real information," he said.

Arestovich noted an exclusively professional work of Azerbaijani media during the 44-day war in Karabakh: "The lessons we gave to the world are worthy of the most instant attention and are studied by all professionals of the world in the information sphere," he said.

Chairman of the United Diaspora of Azerbaijanis of Ukraine, Hikmat Javadov said that there was much misinformation during the war in Karabakh.

"We, with our colleagues, discussed this problem and eyed creating a platform where journalists from Azerbaijan and Ukraine would work together."

Moreover, according to him, it would be more expedient to hold the probation meeting and 'create a special filter for unbiased news.'

The former Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, Dmitry Zolotukhin, also spoke at the meeting. "Unfortunately, it is impossible to demand from wide audiences, from a person who receives information from TV or social networks, to be an expert in debunking, exposing myths. Therefore, it is essential to direct the work, which is based on a proactive position, to fill information space with objective information that reflects our bilateral position. This is important for Azerbaijanis living in Ukraine, as well as for Ukrainians who live in Azerbaijan," he stressed.

Representatives of the Azerbaijani media also shared their thoughts on the development of cooperation between the media of the two countries. Media-director of the Global Media Group Hamid Hamidov called this platform very useful and added that the main task is to learn the truth about the conflicts that erupted on the territory of both countries, about their history. In his opinion, the platform can also help people get to know countries in terms of their tourism potential.

Editor-in-chief of Report.az Information Agency Murad Aliyev called the objective coverage of the realities of Azerbaijan and Ukraine a common goal that unites the two countries. He also noted the importance of timely prevention of fake news: "In this sense, the creation of such a platform is encouraging. It will contribute to the development of relations between the two countries. In recent years, relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine have been developing rapidly, and we need to open an office in Ukraine," he said.

The event ended with the signing of a memorandum between the public organizations 'Institute of Post-Information Society' and 'United Diaspora of Azerbaijanis in Ukraine' on the creation of a media platform that will provide the objective coverage of the events in Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
