“Artsakh” is one of the historical regions of Caucasian Albania and has nothing to do with the Armenians, Natig Mammadzada, historian, political commentator and leading researcher of the Institute of History of Azerbaijan National Academy of Science (ANAS) said in an interview with Hamid Hamidov in the program “Let’s talk”, Report informs.
He noted that there are several versions of the origin of this word.
“The most convincing is that the word ‘Artsakh’ used to be called ‘Arsak.’ Here the word ‘Sak’ means Scythians. It became widely used, including in toponyms,” he said.
The guest also answered questions about who the Azerbaijanis are, about education in the Russian language, Armenians and Hays, Tiflis, Iran, South Azerbaijan, the war in Ukraine and much more.
