Brazil’s 'Hoje em dia' publishes article on Azerbaijan

Baku. 22 June. REPORT.AZ/ Brazil’s Hoje em dia newspaper has published an article headlined “Baku, a place where sport and culture mix in Azerbaijan”. Written by journalist Igor Patrick Silva, the article highlights the old history and rich culture of Azerbaijan. With its ethnic and religious diversity Azerbaijan plays a role of bridge between Asia and Europe, the author says.

He highlights the first European Games underway in Baku. The author also reminds Eurovision song contest Baku hosted years ago. ‘Baku also prepares to host a number of international events like Formula1 races in 2016, the World Chess Olympiad and the Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017.’

Highlighting the city's rich culture and modern architecture, the article narrates on Icheri Sheher (the Old City), the Maiden Tower, Shirvanshahs’ Palace, which reflect the city’s ancient history, with the Heydar Aliyev Center, the Carpet Museum, the Flame Towers and other examples of modern architecture in the city which describe the modernity and development of the country's innovation.

Baku metro with its rich decorations is also mentioned in the article.

Hailing the Azerbaijani government’s investments in tourism sector in terms of attracting foreign tourists, the author gives information about the White City Project.

Mr. Silva lauds multicultural and modern society in Azerbaijan, hailing the country as a safe place for foreign tourists.

The article also says that 20 percent of Azerbaijani territories was occupied by Armenian armed forces, underlining the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry’s travel warning not to visit the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
