AZERTAC celebrates its 105th anniversary

Today, the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) turns 105 years old.

According to Report, AZERTAC was founded on March 1, 1920 by the government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) and operated under various names throughout its history.

After the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the agency was given back its historical name - from March 3, 1995, it became known as the State Telegraph Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, and from January 17, 2000 - the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency.

By the order of President Ilham Aliyev dated February 26, 2015, the name was changed to the Azerbaijan State News Agency.

Today, AZERTAC publishes news in eight languages - Azerbaijani, English, Russian, German, French, Arabic, Chinese and Spanish.

AZERTAC information is disseminated through the azertag.az website, news bulletins, and social networks. In total, the agency has 32 pages of various profiles in many languages on social networks.

Thousands of news, videos, and photos related to Azerbaijan's achievements in socio-political, socio-economic, scientific, cultural, and other spheres are published annually on the websites of international and regional media structures, of which AZERTAC is a member, and national news agencies-partners.

The agency was the first in the region to launch the distribution of video news in five languages.

AZERTAC is one of the active members of the Council of the World News Agencies Congress, the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), and the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA). Presiding simultaneously over the World News Agencies Congress and OANA from 2016 to 2019, AZERTAC has written its name in the history of world media. And last year, at the founding General Assembly of the Alliance of Turkic News Agencies (ATHA) in Istanbul, AZERTAC was elected as the Secretary General of the structure.

The team of the Report news agency congratulates colleagues on this significant date and wishes them new creative successes!
