Azerbaijani journalists visited Registan Square in Samarkand as part of a media tour of Uzbekistan.
According to Report's correspondent from Samarkand, the journalists toured the architectural ensemble of the square, which comprises three famous madrasas - Ulugh Beg, Sher-Dor, and Tilla-Kari.
The participants were briefed on the history of the complex, its role in the development of science, education, and culture in the region, as well as the architectural features of the buildings.
Particular attention was paid to the Ulugh Beg Madrasa, built in the 15th century during the rule of Mirzo Ulugh Beg. The journalists were informed about the scientific and educational activities that took place there.
Representatives of Azerbaijani media also viewed the richly decorated facades of the buildings, mosaic panels, ornaments, and inner courtyards of the madrasas, which have preserved characteristic features of medieval Samarkand architecture.
