Azerbaijan is constantly targeted by various circles that want to pollute its information environment, Media Development Agency's Executive Director Ahmad Ismayilov said at the Media Literacy conference, Report informs.
According to Ismayilov, such threats affecting Azerbaijan's media ecosystem necessitate both increasing competitive news production in media and raising media literacy levels to prevent the public from being influenced by false information.
He emphasized that the agency has developed a unified internal strategy aimed at target groups by studying international experience to increase media literacy skills in society:
"Media and education representatives, as well as teenagers and youth, are regularly involved in seminars conducted by media literacy specialists and government officials. In general, as a result of modern organization of media and communication activities in recent years, the true intentions of parties conducting smear campaigns against our country before and during COP29 have been promptly exposed in local media.
Natural resistance against internal and external negative information flow has been created in the public, and disinformation threats have been neutralized."
Ahmad Ismayilov added that protecting society's socio-political vigilance, preventing smear campaigns against the country, and correctly conveying state messages to society through media in promoting statehood principles and values are having a serious impact on forming public opinion based on healthy principles.
