French mayor: We’ll try to introduce Azerbaijani writers to French readers

Paris. 23 October. REPORT.AZ/ "The foundation of relations between the Cognac city of France and Azerbaijan was laid many years ago. At present, our relations covering a number of areas, are developing successfully," mayor of Cognac city, Michel Gurinsha said, Report's Western European Bureau informs.

According to him, the Polar festival has been held for more than 20 years and brings together authors of detective works from different regions of France: “Famous detective writer of Azerbaijan, prose-writer, publicist, chairman of Writer's Union Chingiz Abdullayev added the originality to the event. We propose to show one of the films based on the works of the writer, who is author of 201 novels. As is known, 30 million books of Chingiz Abdullayev have been sold around the world. We have invited other Azerbaijani writers to the next year’s festival. We will try to introduce Azerbaijani writers to the French readers."

Notably, readers can meet with detective writers and get autographs at the Polar Festival which lasts three days in Cognac city of France every year. Famous Azerbaijani detective writer Chingiz Abdullayev met with French readers at the festival held on October 19-21 this year.
