Protesters on the Khankandi-Lachin road are concerned about mine pollution, as well as the situation with ecology and the environment in Karabakh, senior correspondent of Ami Magazine at the White House Jake Turx said in an interview with Newsmax.
He said what they saw over the last two months was the protest on the Lachin road, which has caused a lot of concern.
Speaking about the Russian peacekeeping contingent temporarily stationed in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, Turx added that both Baku and Yerevan are somewhat concerned about their deployment in this territory.
Russia had a military alliance with Armenia, but when the war broke out in 2020, Russia was nowhere to be seen in terms of providing military support to its ally, he said, adding that in 44 days, Azerbaijan managed to regain control over the territory that was taken from them in the 1990s during the First Karabakh War.
The journalist went on to say that Russian peacekeepers were brought in to maintain peace, but, nevertheless, concern was expressed on both sides about this.
He noted that the Azerbaijani side claims the land mines were smuggled to and planted in the territories that are currently under the control of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
About 50 civilians, including two journalists, were killed in the mine explosions, he said.
