US extends condolences to families of victims of mine explosion in Azerbaijan’s Tartar

The US is concerned that landmines and unexploded ordnance in the liberated Azerbaijani territories continue to kill and maim civilians, impede economic development and the safe return of former displaced people, Report informs referring to the US Embassy in Azerbaijan.

“We offer our condolences to the families and friends of the three people working with the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) who were killed in the mine explosion on April 28 and to the other Azerbaijanis who have been killed or wounded by landmine explosions.

We work closely with ANAMA and are distressed that landmines and unexploded ordnance continue to kill and maim civilians, block economic development, and impede the safe return of displaced communities.

As the Secretary has emphasized, the United States is committed to peace negotiations and a peaceful future for the entire region,” a US Embassy spokesperson said.
