Ukranian MPs make appeal over death of Azerbaijani journalists in Kalbajar

The United Nations and European Court of Human Rights should exert pressure on Armenia in the issue of maps of minefields, a representative of the Servant of the People faction in Verkhovna Rada Lyudmila Marchenko told Report's Eastern European bureau commenting on the death of Azerbaijani journalists in a landmine explosion in Kalbajar.

"As far as we know, the maps of minefields do exist, as they were planted there without haste for almost 30 years, and the failure to disclose these maps of minefields runs contrary to the November 9 agreements," Marchenko said.

Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada member Marian Zablotsky also believes that UN structures should join efforts to demine lands and combat anti-personnel mines.

According to him, the international community must demand that Armenia provide the maps of minefields, fulfill its commitments and observe international law.
