Russian expert: Representatives of mediating countries to speak of need for dialogue more often

In the coming months, representatives of the mediating countries (more actively - the diplomats of the United States and France), as well as Yerevan, will more often mention the need for dialogue in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group, a leading analyst at the Agency for Political and Economic Communications Mikhail Neyzhmakov told Report, commenting on the appointment of Igor Kovaev by Russia as the new co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group.

"Appeals to this format on the part of Yerevan have nevertheless been repeated several times. This position is defined both by foreign policy motives (the hope for the opportunity to get room for maneuver due to the difference between the interests of the co-chairing countries, in particular, on the special position of France) and internal political ones," he noted.

According to the expert, Moscow's appointment of a new envoy is an opportunity to demonstrate to the United States and France their readiness to work together.

"After the signing of a trilateral statement on a ceasefire in Karabakh in November 2020, representatives of the United States, France and several representatives of the political and expert community of Armenia most often spoke about the need for dialogue in the OSCE Minsk Group format," he stressed, adding that Russia, as the third co-chair also confirms readiness to work in this format...
