Robert Cekuta: We will do our best for Azerbaijan and Armenia to live in peace

"The United States wants to create conditions of friendship and peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia," former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta said at the end of his visit to Aghdam.

"A few days ago, I accidentally asked a few questions about this during a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev at the Nizami Ganjavi International Center. We have carried out peacekeeping missions in other countries and achieved positive results.

"It is true that we have heard about the devastation in Aghdam, but what we see here is horrible. But I believe that both sides will live in good neighborliness and peace, forgetting what happened. We will do our best for this," he added.

On May 22, a US Caspian Policy Center delegation embarked on a visit to Aghdam city, liberated from the Armenian occupation.

A delegation consisting of former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Robert Cekuta, Michael Repass, Roger Kangas, and Jeremy Cohen visited Juma Mosque, the Imarat Cemetery, the Bread Museum, the Drama Theater, the Alley of Martyrs, and Shahbulag Fortress in the Armenian-destroyed city of Aghdam.
