Restoration of Juma, Giyasli mosques of Aghdam to begin shortly

The restoration of the Aghdam mosques of Juma and Giyasli will start in the nearest future, head of the State Service on Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture Azad Jafarli told a conference on the architectural heritage of Karabakh.

He said there are more than 2,600 historical and cultural monuments, of which 706 were registered by the state.

"Shusha fortress, Khudafarin bridges, Ganjasar, Khudavang monastery, Kutlu Musa tomb, Azikh cave, which is 1.5 million years old, are historical and cultural monuments of world importance in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur. Some of them have been restored, including the monument to Uzeyir Hajibayli, the bust and mausoleum of Molla Panah Vagif, and the Bulbul house-museum. Also, work continues on the restoration of the Ashaghy and Yukhara Govkhar Aga, and Saatly mosques.”
