"I visited the liberated territories many times, and when hundreds kilometers, 400-450 kilometers, you go by car, you see only destroyed villages and cities," President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said speaking during the videoconference discussions of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center "South Caucasus: Prospects for Regional Development and Cooperation," Report informs.
"95 percent of the cities and villages are totally destroyed. And this destruction was not made during the first Karabakh war, because it is impossible to destroy by bomb all these cities, it was destroyed after," the head of state said.
He said Armenians were stealing the construction materials used to build houses and schools, trying to 'erase the Azerbaijani cultural heritage from these territories."
"Another goal of Armenian occupants was to destroy the cities and villages so that never Azerbaijanis come back and actually now there is nowhere to go back," President Aliyev said, reminding that when Fuzuli was liberated in October, Azerbaijani military could not find any building to raise the flag of Azerbaijan, because no building was left there.
At the same time, the President noted that the active process of restoring the infrastructure, particularly electrification and construction of roads, had already been launched in the liberated territories.
