Ombudsman prepares report on investigation at mass grave sites in Azerbaijan’s Edilli

Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva has prepared a report on the results of an independent investigation conducted in mass graves found in the village of Edilli, Khojavand district, Report informs referring to Ombudsman's Office.

During the First Karabakh War (1988-1994) numerous war crimes and crimes against humanity were committed against Azerbaijanis taken hostage by Armenia.

As part of the Ombudsman’s fact-finding mission, a specialized team of members of the Ombudsman’s Office conducted an independent investigation of the mass grave sites in the village of Edilli and prepared a report containing hard facts collected during the monitoring.

The report contains facts about the adoption of international legal measures to bring to justice the persons represented in the military-political leadership of Armenia, who are guilty of committing numerous grave crimes against Azerbaijanis on the basis of ethnic hatred.

The text of the report calls on international organizations to take a firm stand to take urgent action.

The report is addressed to international organizations, ombudsmen of foreign countries, as well as other international organizations involved in the protection of human rights.
