As is known, the 44-day war ended with the liberation of Azerbaijan’s Shusha city, and it was a special assignment of the country’s president, Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov said at the presentation of the book “History of the Patriotic War: Personality Factor” at the National Library of the Turkish Presidential Administration, Report’s Turkish bureau informs.
He shared his memories of the Shusha operation: “Every morning we reported to the president about the details of the military operation. On the eve of it, I presented a plan of military operations, but the president of Azerbaijan rejected it. He said that buildings and historical monuments must not be damaged, and the city must be liberated without the use of heavy military equipment.”
According to the minister, on the instructions of the president, Shusha was liberated by the Azerbaijani special forces. “In the evening, around 8-9 p.m., I reported to the head of state on the liberation of the city,” Zakir Hasanov said.
