Michael Doran says 'no evidence' that Azerbaijanis are driving Armenians from Karabakh

There is no evidence that the Azerbaijanis are driving the Armenians from Karabakh, Michael Doran, director of the Center for Peace and Security in the Middle East at Hudson Institute said on the social network X, according to Report.

"This is a voluntary exodus of Armenians, not ethnic cleansing. Ethnic cleansing is what the Armenians conducted in the First Karabakh War, killing children and old people, and raping girls for fun. Nice try at moral equivalency, but it won't fly," the expert said.

He believes that the reassertion of Azerbaijani sovereignty over Karabakh was inevitable the moment Azerbaijan won the war in November 2020.

"International law and, more importantly, the major players -- the US, Russia, Türkiye -- regard Karabakh as Azerbaijani," the expert said.
