Expert: Tragedy in Kalbajar proves that Armenia is a threat to entire region

"The tragedy in Kalbajar is yet another proof of Azerbaijan's statement that Armenia is an unstable country that poses a terrorist threat to the entire region. Yerevan's refusal to provide the map of minefields though it was one of the prerequisites for signing peace agreements also testifies to this," expert in interethnic conflicts and member of the Russian Journalists' Union Yevgeniy Mikhailov told Report regarding the tragic death of Azerbaijani journalists in Kalbajar.

The expert believes that the anti-tank mine could have been planted by saboteurs: "As far as I know, six bandits were detained a week ago, a part of the group managed to flee. This information was reported on social networks. It is highly likely that those whom Azerbaijani servicemen detain manage to plant mines."

Mikhailov considers that official Baku shows excessive humanism to detained saboteurs in this case in a belief that Armenia will come to its senses and take a course for the complete stabilization in the region, particularly in the areas bordering on Azerbaijan.

"It does not happen, and therefore, Azerbaijan, jointly with other countries, primarily with Russia, which has its peacekeeping contingent in the confrontation area, must take maximally tough measures to force Yerevan to provide the map of minefields and pay full compensation to the families of the deceased. At least, it is what civilized countries do when they admit their guilt," the expert said.
