Expert: France never been, won’t be impartial in Karabakh issue

France cannot be impartial in the issue of Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization, just as it was not neutral in the issue of the Karabakh settlement before, Doctor of Law, Professor, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Namiq Aliyev told Report.

He said that this stems from the beginning of the formation of Armenian statehood in the 20th century, in which France was directly involved and acted as its patron. Therefore, the inclusion of France in the Minsk Group was a huge mistake, he noted.

“A mediator must be neutral. Otherwise, any mission is doomed to failure,” Aliyev added.

The expert doesn’t question the presence of a corruption component in the relations between the Armenian diaspora and the French establishment, adding that French President Emmanuel Macron plays a significant role in rekindling the conflict.

“Macron’s pathetic attempt to present his latest statements about the conflict as his personal opinion does not change anything. These statements were made by the president of France, who assured that Paris would always be next to Armenia,” Aliyev notes.

According to the professor, the decisions of the French Senate, in which Azerbaijanophobic sentiments are clearly traced, should be added to this.

“In conclusion, I would also like to draw attention to Macron’s latest promise not to use nuclear weapons, which sounds like a desire to escalate the war in Ukraine. In combination with his aggressive policy towards the South Caucasus, it exposes the hawkish nature of this miserable politician, which raises many questions,” concluded Aliyev.
