Elchin Amirbayov: Baku expects Armenian side to fully honor their commitments

Official Baku expects the Armenian side to fully honor their commitments to disarm and to withdraw the remnants of the Armenian armed forces from the territory of Azerbaijan, Elchin Amirbayov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan, told the BBC.

According to Report, Amirbayov noted regarding the humanitarian situation that all the necessary conditions have been provided by Azerbaijan for the unimpeded delivery of food, medicines and other essentials through existing routes via Lachin and Aghdam.

Amirbayov noted that the day before the government of Azerbaijan delivered four trucks with 50 tons of food and medicines to Khankandi in addition to the 50 tons delivered by Russian peacekeepers and this aid is already distributed to local population. Also active work is underway with the ICRC.

"Both routes via Aghdam and via Lachin are open and this is the major agreement that was reached between Azerbaijan and the Armenian side. Now we need to ensure that the civilian population of Armenian origin are reassured that they will receive all the necessary staples: the issue of heating, the issue of electricity, the issue of medicines, all the necessary food. These all are issues that the Azerbaijani government is ready to ensure," Amirbayov added.

The presidential representative also commented on the meeting held in Yevlakh between representatives of Karabakh Armenians and official Baku: "We did our best to explain to the Armenian side what the basic principles, approaches and spheres are through which we are ready to ensure the rights and also to ensure the smooth transition and peaceful integration into Azerbaijan."
