Chiefs of Armenian, Azerbaijani security services hold meetings

Chief of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Ali Nagiyev, and Director of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia Armen Abazyan met on January 8, 2021, in the neutral zone of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border passing through the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and on January 10, in the border settlements of Vorotan and Shurnukh.

Chief of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Elchin Guliyev, and the opposite country's Border Service leadership attended the last meeting.

The meetings focused on joint investigation of incidents on the state border, the security of Nagorno-Karabakh and liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, identification of burial places, and prisoners' exchange of the fate of missing and hostages in the First Karabakh and Patriotic War.

Moreover, the talks outlined that continued observance of the ceasefire reached under the Tripartite Declaration of November 10, 2020, serves both peoples' interests and security, including the Azerbaijani and Armenian communities of Karabakh.
