Baku: Armenia trying to aggravate situation on border by provocations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has condemned Armenia's provocation in the Kalbajar direction.

Report informs that the statement released by the ministry says:

"According to the Ministry of Defense and the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, another provocation of the Armenian armed forces in the direction of the village of Armudlu in the Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan was thwarted on June 1, 2021.

"A group of Armenian armed forces, consisting of about 40 people, who penetrated the territory of Azerbaijan, was immediately withdrawn from the territory of our country without the use of any weapons owing to the measures taken by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

"Regular provocations of the Armenian side on the border of the two states demonstrate that this country is purposefully taking steps to aggravate the situation in the region.

"We emphasize once again the inadmissibility of such provocations and the importance of eliminating the existing differences on the border issue only by negotiation. Azerbaijan stands for launching the delimitation and demarcation of borders between the two states.

"We call on Armenia to abide by the principles of international law, refrain from unreasonably aggravating tensions on the border issue and stop provocations at the border checkpoint."
