Azerbaijan reaffirms commitment to achieving carbon neutrality in Karabakh

Azerbaijan intends to achieve zero carbon emissions in Karabakh by 2050, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Report informs.

The country will continue to create green energy zones and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, he noted.

Azerbaijan will continue to play an important role in ensuring global energy security, helping millions of people switch to clean energy both in the region and beyond, the minister said.

Green economic growth is one of the priorities of the republic's leadership, the head of the Foreign Ministry added.

Azerbaijan is exploring ways to further reduce greenhouse gas emissions and is working on preparing national priorities in line with the global goal of keeping global warming within 1.5 degrees Celsius, Jeyhun Bayramov said.
