New York authorities to spend $ 32 mln to fight against rats

Baku. 13 July. REPORT.AZ/ The New York authorities intend to reduce the number of rats by 70 % in the districts mainly affected by them -Manhattan, Bronx and Brooklyn, Report informs referring to Vesti. It is noted that it is planned to spend 32 million USD from the city budget on this.

Since the beginning of 2017, the City's Health Department has received over 10,000 complaints on rats.

Their traces have been found in 15 % of 24,000 houses located in the three above-mentioned districts.

Within the framework of the program to be launched in September of 2017, it is planned to carry out the reconstruction of apartment houses by replacing floors in basements with concrete floors.

According to some estimates, the number of rats in New York reaches 2 million.
