A couple from Partington town in the UK, Greater Manchester, married for over 70 years, died three days apart due to coronavirus infection, Report informs, referring to The Sun.
Margaret and Derek Firth, both aged 91, have been in love with each other since childhood. They married in 1950 and lived together for 71 years.
The pair were admitted to the hospital suffering from different health issues but then later caught COVID.
Margaret had been admitted to Wythenshawe Hospital but was transferred to Trafford.
Derek, who was also admitted to Wythenshawe, was moved to Trafford to be with his wife after doctors feared she didn’t have long to live.
Their daughter Barbara Smith, 50, said that the hospital is probably where he contracted COVID.
"There’s no way he wasn’t going to not go and see her,’" Barbara noted.
Derek died on January 31, while Margaret passed on three days later.
Margaret and Derek were great-grandparents to four, grandparents to 11, and parents to five children.
