Zangilan international airport to be inaugurated tomorrow

The international airport in Zangilan that took 1.5 years to construct will be inaugurated tomorrow, Report informs, citing Anadolu.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will attend the opening ceremony.

The foundation of the second airport in Azerbaijan's liberated lands was laid on April 26, 2021. Zangilan Airport was built in accordance with the highest international standards.

The first technical flight from the airport was carried out on September 9.

The airport runway is 3,000 meters long, 60 meters wide and its terminal capacity is 200 passengers per hour.

All wide-body aircraft, including large cargo liners, will be able to land and take off without hindrance in the new airport.

The airport platform is designed to serve eight aircraft at the same time.

The automatic systems and control tower at the airport meet international civil aviation and transport standards.

Turkish companies also took part in the construction of the airport.

On October 14, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov signed an order to grant the airport in Zangilan an international status, and the country's Foreign Ministry was instructed to send information to the relevant international structures.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has included the airport in the list of international airports with the code ZZE.
