VIDEO REPORT from largest shipyard in Caspian basin

The Baku Shipyard with an area of 620,000 square meters is the largest shipyard in the Caspian basin.

Report informs that the plant, the opening ceremony of which took place on September 20, 2013, has equipment manufactured in Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, the Czech Republic, South Korea, Singapore and other countries.

Elshad Nuriyev, Chairman of the Management Board of Baku Shipyard LLC, said that ten ships had been built at the plant from 2013 to 2024: “Currently, those ships play an important role in the development of transport infrastructure, as well as in the implementation of engineering and marine works.”

Nuriyev added that the Baku Shipyard plans to commission four more ships: “In other words, we will have 17 ships in total. But the most important point is that we have to complete the construction of these ships in just four years, that is, by 2028.”

Talking about the dredging vessel construction project implemented with Dutch company Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, Nuriyev pointed out that they are currently negotiating with potential customers regarding the construction of other vessels within the project of that company: “Over the past two years, we have begun to form partnerships with leading shipbuilding companies, including Damen. The most important issue here is the transfer of technologies and the study of the experience of other shipyards. The metal-cutting works for the construction of the dredging vessel have already started. In the near future, we plan to complete the hull of that vessel.”
