Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan eye improving cargo transportation from China to Europe

Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan intend to create favorable conditions for cargo transportation along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey-Europe route through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, Report informs referring to Xinhua.

This issue was discussed at a meeting of the Uzbek-Turkmen working group on transport issues via videoconference with the participation of Uzbek Deputy Minister of Transport Abdusamat Muminov and Chairman of the Turkmen Railways Agency Azat Atamuradov.

The Uzbek Ministry of Transport reported that during the meeting the parties discussed prospects for the development of cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, in particular, the intensification of work on the Ashgabat agreement with all participants in the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman international transit and transport corridor.

In addition, the issue of resuming the work of border checkpoints closed in connection with the COVID pandemic was considered.

The agreements to develop the international multimodal route "Asia-Pacific countries-China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Europe" were reached in December 2019 in Tashkent.
