UNDP, EC discuss strengthening transport links between East and West

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the European Commission have discussed the strengthening of transport and logistics connections between the East and the West.

Report informs citing the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) that the discussions were held at the conference “The Middle Corridor Initiative – Where Europe and Asia Meet”.

The conference was jointly organized by the European Institute of Asian Studies (EIAS) and the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Belgium.

Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of AZPROMO, EIAS CEO Axel Goethals, Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Brussels Office, Camilla Brückner, and Sarah Rinaldi, Head of Unit for Middle East and Central Asia, European Commission's International Partnerships General Directorate, took part in the panel discussions held within the framework of the conference. The panel discussed the crucial role of Azerbaijan in the formation of the Middle Corridor as a reliable trade route, and the work done for digitalization of trade channels.

The event was also attended by members of various political institutions of the European Union, representatives of the European Parliament, employees of Belgian educational institutions and various research centers.
