Two new customs checkpoints may be built on Azerbaijani-Iranian border

After the gradual demining of the liberated areas from mines and unexploded ordnance, these areas will be inspected and extensively analyzed, and the location for construction will be identified and adequately designed and evaluated, the chairman of the State Customs Committee, Safar Mehdiyev, told Report commenting on the plans to establish a new customs checkpoint on the liberated Khudafarin Bridge on the Azerbaijani-Iranian border.

According to him, after these processes, the creation of customs infrastructure in these areas will be considered.

The committee chairman reminded that before the occupation, there was the "Horadiz" customs checkpoint in Horadiz settlement of Fuzuli district and "Maiden Tower" in Jabrayil district on the border with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He noted that at the same time, the two governments are in talks the governments on the construction of a new customs checkpoint meeting modern standards to ensure the movement of persons, goods, and vehicles in the Jabrayil district (Khudafarin settlement) along the new state border, agreed with the Iranian side. The negotiations are held with the participation of relevant government agencies.
