Turkiye has developed its own navigation control programs in the Bosporus and Dardanelles, they will replace the US software, which has been used by the Turkish Coast Guard Command for almost 20 years, head of the Turkish Coast Guard General Directorate Durmus Unuvar said, Report informs referring to Turkish media.
In this regard, an agreement was concluded with Turkiye’s Havelsan company.
The transition to the new software is planned within a month. The control system includes security cameras, radars and beacons. They were manufactured by the Turkish military-industrial complex Aselsan.
Unuvar also noted that the regulations for navigation in the straits have been amended regarding the escort of ships carrying dangerous goods. From now on, tugboats will accompany vessels over 175 meters long when transporting goods over a distance exceeding 200 meters.
