Transport ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have signed a memorandum in Astana, Report informs referring to Kazakh media.
The purpose of the memorandum is the interaction of countries within creating a favorable environment for attracting investments, developing infrastructure and improving the regulatory framework governing the activities of transport and logistics centers.
At the meeting, the transport ministers discussed current issues of cooperation in the areas of transit corridors, rail and road transport, as well as air transport.
Following the event, they signed the Astana Communique, which consolidated the intentions of the parties to further strengthen cooperation. This was a logical continuation of the Agreement on Strengthening the Interconnectivity of Land Transport in Central Asia signed in 2023 in Dushanbe.
The transport ministers also visited the Astana Electric Locomotive Assembly Plant, where the enterprise demonstrated the production capabilities of domestic locomotive manufacturing.
