Traffic via Aktau part on Trans-Caspian route up 66%

The volume of cargo transported through the port of Aktau along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) increased by 66% in January-October, according to the press service of the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways) company, Report informs referring to Kazakh media.

“For ten months of 2022, 3.2 million tons of cargo were transshipped through the seaport of Aktau, which is 7% higher than last year. Of this volume, oil amounted to over 1.9 million tons (+7%), grain stood at 385,000 tons. The volume of transshipment of containerized cargo increased by 17%, to more than 26,400 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent). The volume of transportation through the port of Aktau along the TITR route increased by 66% compared to last year and amounted to more than 23,800 TEU,” reads the message of KTZ.

The seaport of Aktau is located at the intersection of transport corridors connecting Kazakhstan, Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia and Turkiye.
