Taghiyeva: World facing triple crisis today

Global urbanization is exacerbating climate risks, Umayra Taghiyeva, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, said during World Urban Forum 13 in Baku.

Report quotes her as saying 55% of the world's population lives in cities, making urban areas highly vulnerable to heatwaves, floods, water shortages, and other climate-related threats.

"Today, the world is facing a triple crisis: climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Together, they threaten ecosystems, human well-being, sustainable development, as well as the resilience of our cities and communities," Taghiyeva said.
