State Committee: New customs posts may be created in Karabakh

There are projects to create new customs posts at the corridors and border crossing points in the liberated territories, the 1st Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee (SCC), acting chairman Sahin Baghirov said at the meeting of the Economic Policy, Industry, and Entrepreneurship Committee of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, Report informs.

According to Baghirov, work is currently underway on the Aghband customs checkpoint located in the Zangilan district. "Two customs posts are already operating in Karabakh. These are Gazanchi and Eyvazli customs posts."

"There was no passage through these points at sensitive times, but then three cars passed through the Eyvazli checkpoint. Also, earlier, drivers refused to pay customs duty," Baghirov said.

According to him, mostly Iranian drivers wanted to avoid paying the road tax: "They wanted a quota, but we suggested that they pay the customs duty."

Baghirov stressed that the Customs Committee would carry out its activities in the liberated areas.
