The fertilizer terminal built on the territory of the Baku Port will be put into operation this year, Khudayar Hasanli, Head of Strategic Planning and Development Department of Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC, told Report.
“It is planned to import sulfur, carbamide, and ammonium nitrate fertilizers from the countries of Central Asia, including Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, to the port. We will be able to attract more fertilizer cargo to Baku Port. We are currently handling fertilizers produced in Turkmenistan. But after putting Fertilizer Terminal into operation, we aim to transport fertilizer not only from Turkmenistan but also Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan through Azerbaijan. Uzbek fertilizer passes through this corridor in containers and wagons. We also envisage the transshipment of fertilizers in an open form,” he said.
