Secretary General: Middle Corridor not a rival to Northern Corridor

The Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route) and the Northern (Russia) Corridor are not rivals, said Gaidar Abdikerimov, Secretary General of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route International Association, Report informs.

"Everyone thinks that the Middle Corridor was created as a rival to the Northern Corridor, but this is not the case. The Middle Corridor was established 10 years ago. As an association, we have been operating for 6 years. The Middle Corridor is a continuation of the new Silk Road and is a multi-modal corridor. Freight in the Northern Corridor is mainly transported by rail. But we have completely different cargo transportation. Cargo transported in the Middle Corridor passes through 3 seas. As soon as the crisis started, we received appeals from different countries in the East and West of Europe. Our route has expanded. 2022 once again highlighted the importance of the Middle Corridor," he noted.
