Second highway to Azerbaijan’s Shusha to be ready in 2024

The second highway in the direction of Shusha will have 4-6 lanes, Deputy Chief of the Main Department for Operation and Maintenance of the Azerbaijan Automobile Roads State Agency Hidayat Rustamov said at a press conference, Report informs.

“The road of the first technical class begins at 157 km of the M-6 highway Hajigabul-Horadiz-Agbend-Zangezur corridor. The road, which will be 81.6 km long, will have 4-6 lanes. As a result of the construction of bridges and tunnels on the road, high speed will be ensured, and it will be 20.3 km shorter than ‘Zefer Yolu’ (‘Victory Road’). The construction of the highway is planned to be completed in 2024,” he said.

He noted that following the order of the Azerbaijani president, “On the reconstruction and restoration of the territories liberated from the occupation,” work continues in several directions: Togana-Kalbajar-Istisu (83 km long, 4 lanes), Horadiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Agbend (123.8 km, 4-6 lanes), Khudaferin-Gubadli-Lachin (70 km, 4 lanes), Kalbajar-Lachin (73 km, 2 lanes), Fuzuli-Hadrut (13 km, 4 lanes), Barda-Agdam (45 km, 4 lanes), Shukurbayli-Jabrayil-Hadrut (43 km, 4 lanes).

It is envisaged to build a new alternative road without entering the city of Lachin (23 km, 2 lanes), the Talish-Tapgaragoyunlu-Gashalti sanatorium (22 km, 2 lanes), and this work successfully continues.
