RoPax ferry 'Azerbaijan' embarks on its first voyage

The RoPax ferry belonging to the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) has embarked on its first voyage.

The vessel was launched into the sea with the participation of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva on March 1.

Report informs that the Ro-Pax ferry, 'Azerbaijan,' pulled anchor from the Baku port in Alat and is heading to Kazakhstan's Kuryk.

The concept and engineering and design works of the new vessel, which is considered a unique project and was inaugurated in the Caspian Sea, were developed by the Odesa Marine Engineering Bureau with the active involvement of the ASCO engineers.

The RoPax ferries are around 154.4 meters long, 17.7 meters wide, and 7.5 meters high. They are capable of transporting 100 passengers, 56 cistern carriages, or 50 heavy trucks.
