Railway official: Austrian has big plans for cargo transportation via Middle Corridor

Austria has big plans for cargo transportation via the Middle Corridor, Eniko Györfl, the head of Eurasia-Central Asia relations at Austrian Federal Railways, told Report.

According to her, Austria is not only considering freight transportation between Europe and Central Asia through the corridor but also thinking about freight transportation between China and Europe: "East Asia is a very important region for Austria. Our country is in the center of Europe, connecting Asia with the continent, as well as Eastern and Western Europe. Our goal is to grow and strengthen together with our partners in the region, and to offer our customers a sustainable and stable product."

Györfi also stated that OBB Holding, which belongs to the Austrian Federal Railways, is one of the most significant partners of TCDD Tasimacilik", a subsidiary of Turkish State Railways: "We carry out freight transportation from Europe to Türkiye and in the opposite direction."

The railway official participated in the consultation meeting of railway administration heads regarding the establishment of the "Eurasian Transport Route" International Association held in Baku on September 20. Austria wants to join this association.

"We are partners with Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) CJSC and are working on a number of projects. These projects are related to exchange of experience and freight transportation from Europe to Azerbaijan and in the opposite direction," she noted.
