Rahman Hummatov: Contracts for purchase of new planes will be signed this month

In order to improve the quality of passenger transport services in Azerbaijan, it is planned to sign contracts for the purchase of new aircraft this month, Rahman Hummatov, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, told Report.

“Currently, there are 8 types of aircraft in the fleet of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL). This leads to high costs, both in terms of maintenance of aircraft and training of aircraft servicing personnel. To reduce costs, the long-term Strategic Development Plan of AZAL covering the years 2023-2030 envisages having aircraft of 2 types - Airbus A320 Neo class for narrow-body aircraft, and Boeing 787 Dreamliner for wide-body aircraft,” Hummatov said.
