Putin: Russia hopes for agreement with Iran and Azerbaijan on cargo transportation

Russia hopes for the soonest completion of the work on an agreement with Iran and Azerbaijan on cooperation in the development of railways and cargo transportation, Russian President Vladimir Putin said via video link during the signing ceremony of an agreement on the establishment of the Rasht-Astara railway section (part of the North-South corridor) in the republic.

According to him, the launch of the Rasht-Astara railway will allow diversifying global traffic flows, and transportation will have competitive advantages. This section will ensure connection between the land sections of the international transport corridor North-South.

He noted that the North-South corridor will be used to transport food agro-industrial complex for consumers in Iran, as well as for Africa.
