President of Kazakhstan: Trans-Caspian route can halve transportation times from China to Europe

The use of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) can help halve the time of freight transport from China to Europe, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the opening of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, according to Report.

"Today, the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route has become the flagship cooperation project for many states. This transport artery connecting China, Central Asia and Europe can become a continental bridge of the Belt and Road, halving the time of cargo transportation and significantly reducing transport costs," he said.

The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route ("Middle Corridor") runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further to European countries. It carries out container transportation using rail and sea transport.
