Peter Michalko: Increase in cargo flow via Middle Corridor to be observed in coming years

There is a significant increase in cargo flow through the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route) and this trend will continue in the coming years, European Union (EU) Ambassador to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko said at the opening ceremony of the project 'Support for the improvement of operational capabilities of Port of Baku and the implementation of the concept of Green Port'.

"Azerbaijan's partner EU is a big market where 450 million consumers live here. Azerbaijan plays a vital role in the development of the Middle Corridor, and it can strengthen its transit potential and develop its services in this direction, taking advantage of this connection. In general, the development of the non-oil sector will lead to the diversification of Azerbaijan's economy. The EU and Azerbaijan work together based on the high standards that exist in the world. This is our main goal. As the EU, we support the green connection and the project we are launching today proves it," the ambassador said.
