New road to be built on Georgian-Azerbaijani transit corridor

The construction of a 35-kilometer Tbilisi-Sagarejo road in the Georgian region of Kakheti will begin this year, Report's Georgian bureau informs, citing Georgia's Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili.

She said that the construction of the new road will accelerate the economic development of Georgia.

The construction of the Tbilisi-Sagarejo highway will be financed from the state budget. Georgian companies will also be able to take part in a tender for constructing specific sections of the road. It is planned to announce the tender in November-December this year.

The four-lane Tbilisi-Sagarejo road is located on the Georgian-Azerbaijani transit corridor. Thanks to its construction, traffic safety will increase and travel time will be significantly reduced along the corridor.
