Management of Azerbaijani airports may be entrusted to foreign company

As a result of the investigation into the high prices of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) tickets, it was determined that there is no violation of antimonopoly legislation in this area, Jafar Babayev, Deputy Head of the Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control State Service under the Ministry of Economy, told a press conference on the results of 2023, Report informs.

He noted that in addition to AZAL, several foreign companies operate flights in the country, and citizens are free to make their own choices: "AZAL flies to limited destinations, and more foreign companies operate flights to other countries."

Babayev noted that proposals were made regarding the improvement of this field:

"A proposal came to entrust the management of several airports in the regions to a foreign company or to involve an additional airline so that local management is not formed. We hope that this will be considered in the future and citizens will get tickets at a lower price."
